COVA Framework

COVA can best be described as the learner centered active learning approach that gives the learner a Choice, Ownership, and Voice through Authentic learning opportunities. We live in a digitally connected world with ubiquitous and everywhere access. The classroom is no longer the locus of control; the network is. We live in an age where we can access all the world’s information and almost anyone can do it in the palms of their hands.

I believe the part that will challenge me the most with COVA is Choice. The learners are given the freedom to choose what and how they learn can sometimes be misleading. How do I develop student skills necessary for life if they choose their products? Most students do not know what their future brings or how their finances will play major part of their lives. It is my job, as their financial counselor to not only structure but guide their choice based off student needs.

I will prepare my students for the COVA approach and CSLE by modeling examples, answering questions, and expressing the importance of COVA; I plan to gradually immerse my students in the COVA approach with the help of creating a significant learning environment.
