Media can be a component of active learning strategies such as group discussions or case studies. Media could be a film clip, a song you hear on the radio, podcast of lecture or a newspaper article. Students can also create their own media. Which is what we have been doing over the last few months in the ADL program. I have learned so much during my digital literacy journey. The use of media has enhanced my learning tremendously. It enhances teaching and learning complements. Effective instruction builds bridges between students’ knowledge and the learning objectives of the course. Using media engages students, aids student retention of knowledge, motivates interest in the subject matter, and illustrates the relevance of many components.

My course will focus on the importance of financial literacy. My targeted audience will be college students. I plan to implement a blended learning lecture course that will highlight the basic types of financial aid, loan repayments, and being financially literate after graduation. The course will consist of some traditional learning environments, such as a lecture hall where the instructor stands at the front, using PowerPoint presentations displayed on a screen to help students better understand the day’s lesson. This will help students gather all the information that is needed. However, in order to fully process the information, I will be using experiential learning. Experiential learning is just as the name suggests: Learning by way of actually experiencing the knowledge or information you're attempting to gain as a college student. For example, I plan to take my students to a local bank in the area to speak with a financial advisor. The financial advisor will explain the dynamics of having a bank account, credit card payments, and financial literacy as a whole. This way experiential learning will be taken out of the traditional classroom and immersed into an environment in which the skills you are learning would actively be applied.
