Want to Innovate ?

“Education is what people do to you, learning is what you do to yourself,” says Joi Ito in the Now-ist video. He explains how the internet has created a new life. He states before the Internet life was simple even predictable. He describes how educators want you to “memorize the encyclopedia before you can actually go out and play.” I understand what Mr. Joi is stating. If you have an issue or a problem you should “just do it”, tackle the issue head on. However, society has trained me to be a futurist, I must plan and research even if the information is at my fingertips. As a futurist, I more concerned about the outcome versus leaning the process. I wonder why? In Monique Markoff video, “Blended Learning and the future of education”, she explains how blended learning has advanced over the years. She states that technology should be used as a tool for learning and not be the actual teacher. In my organization, technology is constantly changing we have implemented so many ideas to help our students. Technology is administered as tool at my workplace, its used to signed documents, holds history of financial records, and determine eligibility for loans and grants. It is still the student’s responsibility to understand and gain profound knowledge of the financial aid process and how it works.
